The Greek TV studios

The search for Ben Needham has some new hope after a doctor from Greece has stepped forward to tell of a sighting he had several years ago.

Thanks to Calendar’s Mark Witty and Simon White travelling to Athens to appear on the Greek TV show “Light at the End of the Tunnel”, the plight of Ben’s family was shown primetime across the country. The next day Doctor Papachristoforou came forward claiming to have met a blonde, blue-eyed toddler, accompanied by a former patient who was unable to have children, and belonged to a local gypsy group.

“I was surprised to see this tourist family boy looking at me and I said hello … he said to me ‘my name is Ben’,” Dr Papachristoforou said. “He was about two-and-a-half years old. I didn’t know the missing boy was called Ben at the time. He looked at me but didn’t say anything more. He probably didn’t know anything more to say.”
