CALENDAR IS NEWS PROGRAMME OF THE YEAR

We’d like to extend our congratulations to the Calendar News team for winning the RTS Regional News Programme of the Year for 2010/2011.

The Royal Television Society (RTS) Television Journalism Awards celebrate creative and excellent journalism in UK news and current affairs, both by organisations broadcasting in the UK and by companies which supply UK news broadcasters.

Primetime Media’s cameraman Simon White has been very busy for Calendar all year, and a few stories he provided camera for contributed to the final entry, including descent into Gaping Gill and the hunt for Ben Needham.

The ceremony was hosted last night in London by Mark Austin, who announced Calendar’s success: “The Winner was a selection of highly watchable items from an exclusive Crossbow Cannibal murderer to a trip down Gaping Gill. The winner of the Nations Regional News Programme is Calendar”.

The award was collected by Calendar Producer Margaret Emsley who responded: “Thanks everybody. Thanks to the judges. This is a real honour and privilege. This is for our Head of News who died in January, Will Venters. This is for the whole team. I’m so, so proud and everybody is”.

We are absolutely delighted that Calendar have received this award and have been recognised for their excellent news coverage across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
