AWARD WINNING CAMERAMAN

Simon White with his Award

Simon White of Primetime Media, has scooped a prestigious award in the ITV Regions & Nations News Awards 2011. He has worked as a freelance cameraman for ITV Yorkshire for the last 20 years, and on Saturday he collected the Bronze award for ITV Camera Operator of the Year.

Over the years Simon has covered many news stories in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and across the UK. He has travelled as far afield as Australia and America with his work, most recently visiting Greece to document the efforts to find Ben Needham, 20 years after he went missing from the Island of Kos. Calendar producer Mark Witty has been a driving force in the search for Ben (view earlier entry) , and on Saturday he picked up two awards for their coverage of the Needham’s story – Silver for News Feature of the Year and Bronze for Scoop of the Year.
The Calendar Team celebrate after the ceremony

The Award Ceremony took place in London, and the Calendar team received nine awards in total. This placed them at the top of the league for the first time, in the same year they received the national RTS and regional RTS awards, and last year’s ITV News programme of the year.

Amongst the other winners were Tina Gelder who received a Gold Award for her Special Feature, Ben Irlam won Silver for Specialist Correspondent and Jon Hill received Bronze for Correspondent of the Year.

All at Primetime Media would like to extend our congratulations to Simon and everyone at Calendar for providing first class news coverage for the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire areas.
